A SIDE QUEST IS NOT ENOUGH ___ UBISOFT
Photographs taken within a video game, 2022A Side Quest is Not Enough is a narrative series created within Ubisoft's video game Watch Dogs: Legion. This project emerged from a carte blanche offered to the artist by Ubisoft for the world’s first in-game photography exhibition, held in New York in November 2022.
The story follows an NPC (Non-Player Character) who comes to the unsettling realization that he is trapped within a video game, that he exists solely as a digital construct, and even worse, that he is not the game’s protagonist. We follow his desperate search for “real” sensations, where he pushes the boundaries of violence, only to confess, in the end, that what truly consumes him is an overwhelming loneliness. The kind that lingers when the player leaves and the console or PC powers down.
