The latest release from Færies Records, the music label founded by Jennifer Cardini and Lou Fauroux, brings together 14 tracks by a new generation of queer, transdisciplinary musicians. To give visual form to this diverse and emotionally rich compilation, Mélanie Courtinat turned to the 3D video game engine Flowscape, using it as a tool for world-building and sonic translation.
For each track, she created a distinct imaginary island: fourteen miniature worlds suspended in space, each one crafted as a precious container for the sound it holds. These islands are not simply backdrops, but sculptural environments shaped by the mood, rhythm, and textures of the music they house. Every island stands as a self-contained universe, a poetic vessel in which the sonic becomes spatial.
Defined by rising waters, drifting fog, and the visible seams of their own construction, these impossible landscapes evoke a kind of synthetic melancholy. They are fragmented worlds that reflect both the intimacy and the isolation of listening.
